Objective | Developing a method for generative pattern creation.

Over one hundered stainless steel elements with dedicated engravings were placed together, creating this unusual modular ceiling in Swissotel, Zürich. This project showcases the FiDU technology and the possibilites it gives at the architectural scale.

For each of the panels a unique pattern drawing was made. The requirement was to keep the engraving length the same for each snowflake (fabrication constraint). With an iterative fractal-like subdivision method, the developed algorithm created hundreds of random snowflakes in a matter of seconds.
